Children With Diabetes On June 22, 1999 Mary Tyler Moore lead 100 children to Washington D.C. and asked lawmakers to increase funding to find a cure for diabetes. You might wonder why this seems so important. For one thing diabetes kills one American every three minutes---now don't you think that is reason enough to fight for more funding? The mission of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation is to find a cure for diabetes.
